Nauru Secondary School (NSS) is an upper secondary school in Yaren DistrictNauru, located in the Nauru Learning Village, along with the University of the South Pacific Nauru Campus and the Nauru Technical & Vocational Education Training Centre.[1] It serves years 10-12 and has the final stages of secondary education in Nauru.[2] As of 2002 it served years 8 through 12.[3] It uses the curriculum of QueenslandAustralia.[4]

In the 1950s it served grades 4 and 5, and a new building opened in 1954. Reuben Kun, who wrote an article about Nauru's university system, stated that in that period there was an unanticipated increase in the number of students at the school.[5] The school had classes teaching Nauruan circa the 1960s and 1970s.[6] In 2013 it became a Queensland Recognised School.[4]

Head of School

 The current head principal of the school is Mrs. Monalisa. Bagadowe (over 1yr) since last year 2020. School is slowly gradually improving since last year from the statistics on graduating students which are Queensland recognize standard are increasingly from less than 20 students to over 30 students pass the QCE standard last year. Now the school is aiming for 80 plus students to pass the QCE this year and with the full support of the teachers and staff they will eventuate
